Pioneers of the Bath Refinisher Industry

How did the bath refinisher industry evolve? Good question.

Thirty years ago, hotel managers in America were getting tired of
losing their rooms for weeks at a time while their old, stained bath tubs and showers were replaced. Not only were they losing money on unusable rooms, but all of the demolition and construction disturbed other guests and tracked dirt and dust through the hotel.

There had to be a better and faster way to update a bathroom without all of the renovation and ruckus.

Around 1979, after much determination and perseverance, bath refinishers developed the theory and practice of bath lining. A simple acrylic tub molding was developed that could fit over existing bath tubs.

Because the new tub liners fit over the existing unit, there was no need to demolish walls or move plumbing, thus installation could be completed in 24 hours.

The hotel industry had their answer. But as bath fitters and liners became more popular, more and more tub styles and wall colors became available. Now, not only could a bathroom be renovated in a day, but the owner of the bathroom could customize it to his or her tastes.

Consequently, by the 1980s bath refinishers were taking bath liners into residential homes. Homeowners took advantage of this time and cost efficient bath refinishing method. Thousands of Americans were saving money with bath refinishing. Many innovative products were developed, with the capability of accommodating any bathroom.

During this boom in the bath refinishing industry, bath refinishers extended their services to tub and shower conversions and wallboard refinishing, making modern bathroom transformations complete. Homeowners no longer need to worry about out-of-date tile or hard-to-clean grout lines.

Today, acrylic bath systems are one of the fastest growing segments in the remodeling industry because they provide a better solution for many consumers. The reality is that most bathrooms are structurally sound and don't need to be ripped out and replaced.

Homeowners are not just choosing bath refinishing over bath renovation because it is fast, clean and easy, but because, as it turns out, it's what their bathroom really needs.
